In the Year Two Thousand and Seven.

Resolve establishing a special commission to make an investigation and study relative to the hygienic of band instruments in the public schools.

    Resolved,

Resolved, That a special commission, to consist of 3 members of the senate, 3 members of the house of representatives, the commissioner of education or his designee and 4 persons to be appointed by the governor, 1 of whom shall be a representative of the Massachusetts Teacher’s Association 1 of whom shall be a school nurse, 1 of whom shall be a representative of band equipment manufacturers and 1 of whom shall be a representative of consumer organizations is hereby established for the purpose of making an investigation and study relative to the hygienics of band instruments and the prevention of the spread of contagious diseases such as tuberculoses by the use of such instruments in the public school.  Said commission shall report to the general court the results of its investigation and study, and its recommendations, if any, together with drafts of legislation necessary to carry its recommendation into effect by filing the same with the clerk of the house of representatives on or before the first Wednesday in October, 2007.
