In the Year Two Thousand and Seven.

 An Act authorizing the Town of Orleans to proceed with the construction of affordable housing on town owned land

 

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:


 

SECTION 1.  The town of Orleans, acting by and through its board of selectmen, may enter into a contract or contracts for the design, development and construction of affordable housing on town owned land located at 257 Route 6A in said town and any such contract shall be exempt from sections 26 to 27H, inclusive, of chapter 149 of the General Laws; provided, however, that any such contract shall be subject to sections 38A1/2 to 38  O, inclusive, of chapter 7 of the General Laws, section 39M or sections 44A to 44M, inclusive, of said chapter 149 and provided, further that any such contracts shall be awarded pursuant to chapter 30B of the General Laws.  The town of Orleans and all contractors and subcontractors engaged in the design, development and contraction of the improvements on said land shall be exempt from the requirements of the prevailing wage laws pursuant to section 26 to 27H of said chapter 149.

 

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
