An Act regulating preliminary elections in the city of Woburn |
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
Chapter 139 of the acts of 1946 is hereby amended by striking out the first sentence in section 1 and inserting in place thereof the following words:
SECTION 1. Except as otherwise provided herein, for every regular or special city election in the city of Woburn at which any elective municipal office is to be filled, there shall be held a preliminary election for the purpose of nominating candidates therefore. The board of alderman shall fix the day of holding preliminary elections. The date fixed shall be no later than the sixth Tuesday preceding the regular or special election. The action of the board of alderman in fixing the date of the preliminary election shall be taken not later than the sixtieth day prior to the date so fixed.
