An Act relative to certain members of the Cambridge retirement system.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of any general or special law, rule or regulation to the contrary, the following members of the Cambridge Retirement System:  Constance Breece, Laurie Friedman, Christley Harris, Ellen Lapowsky, Nicole May, and Kathleen Reist, shall be entitled to credit for the period that each of them performed services as nurse midwives for the Cambridge Hospital Professional Services Corporation and the Somerville Hospital; provided, however, that such service shall not be credited until such member has paid into the annuity savings fund of such system, in one sum or in installments upon such terms and conditions as the board may prescribe, the amount of contributions (plus interest) that would have been withheld from all regular compensation during the period from when said members left membership on or about June 30, 1995, and then became employed by the Cambridge Hospital Professional Services Corporation, and later the Somerville Hospital, to the time when they reentered the membership in the Cambridge Retirement System as employees of the Cambridge Public Health Commission.

Members in service of the retirement system eligible for said creditable service under this act shall make application for said creditable service within one hundred and eighty days of the acceptance of this act by the local legislative body.

Terms used in this act shall have the same meaning as those terms defined in section one of chapter thirty-two of the General Laws.
