An Act allowing Gerald Furtado to purchase certain creditable service.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

Notwithstanding the provisions of Chapter 32 of the General Laws or any other general or special law, rule or regulation to the contrary, the teachers retirement system shall allow Gerald Furtado to purchase creditable service for five years of service as a volunteer firefighter in the town of Swansea. Eligibility for said creditable service shall be conditioned upon payment to the teachers retirement system of an amount equal to the contribution he would have otherwise owed for such period of creditable service together with regular interest thereon. Such repayment shall be made in one sum or installments as the teachers retirement board shall prescribe; provided, however, that said Gerard Furtado shall thereupon receive such increase allowance.
