An Act Increasing the Maximum Amount that May Be Imposed by Fines for Violations of Ordinances in the City of Boston. |
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Increasing the amount that may be imposed by fines.
Section 35 of chapter 448 of the acts of 1854, as amended by chapter 78 of the acts of 1976, as further amended by section 1 of chapter 48 of the acts of 1989, is hereby further amended by striking the sentence inserted by section 1 of chapter 48 of the acts of 1989 and inserting in place thereof the following sentence: "More especially they shall have power to make all such needful and statutory by-laws or ordinances, not inconsistent with the laws of this commonwealth, as cities by the laws of this commonwealth have power to make and establish, and to annex penalties not exceeding one thousand dollars for the breach thereof, which by-laws and ordinances shall take effect and be in force from and after the time therein respectively limited, without the sanction or confirmation of any court or other authority whatsoever."
Section 2. Implementation.
This act shall take effect immediately upon its passage.
