An Act designating a certain bridge in the city of Haverhill as the Emilio Brothers Memorial bridge. |
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
The bridge on state highway Route 110 (River Street) over interstate highway
Route 495 in the city of Haverhill shall be designated and known as the Emilio Brothers
Memorial Bridge. Bennie Emilio, Sergeant, Company I, 172nd Infantry Regiment WWII,
Spent 27 months overseas in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater and was awarded 2 Battle Stars;
Romeo Emilio, Technician 5th Grade, served in WWII Germany during the Occupation;
Alfred Emilio, Private 1st Class, served in WWII Germany during the Occupation;
Orazio Emilio, Private, Company G, 30th Infantry, 3rd Division WWII and was awarded 5
Battle Stars for conflicts in North Africa, Sicily, Salerno, Anzio and Southern France. He
Was killed in action during house to house fighting through a city in Southern France on
August 16, 1944. The department of highways shall erect and maintain suitable markers
Bearing the designation in compliance with the standards of said department.
