In the Year Two Thousand and Seven.

 An Act Relative to the At Large Preliminary Election in The City of Springfield

 

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:


 

 

SECTION 1.

                                Notwithstanding any general or special law or charter provision to the contrary, for the year 2007 only, no preliminary election shall be held in the city of Springfield to nominate 18 persons for the office at-large city councilor. Instead, the preliminary election shall be dispensed with and the 20 persons that have duly qualified as candidates for the office of at-large city councilor shall be deemed nominated for the office of at-large city councilor, although in consequences there shall be printed on the official ballot to be used at the regular election names to a number exceeding twice the number to be elected.

 

SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect upon its passage.
