An Act designating architect emeritus status

 

                Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

 

SECTION 1.   Chapter 112 of Section 60A, of the General Laws is hereby amended by inserting the following definition after “Architect”, -

            “Architect Emeritus”, an honorary title issued to a Massachusetts registered architect who has retired from the active practice of architecture in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and who does not engage or offer to engage in the practice of architecture as defined in section 60A.

 

            SECTION 2.  Chapter 112 is amended by inserting the following section after section 60O:

            Section 60P:    The title of "Architect Emeritus" may be granted, at the discretion of the Board of Registration of Architects, upon written request from a Massachusetts registered architect.

            To be eligible for consideration of Architect Emeritus status, the architect must:

            (a) submit a form and pay a fee prescribed by the Board before the registered architect’s current certificate of registration expires;

            (a) be in good standing with the Board at the time of application;

            (b) be at least 65 years of age;

            (c) have been a registered architect for a period of at least 10 years; and

            (d) relinquish his license to practice architecture in Massachusetts.

 

            The Board reserves the right to review special requests for Architect Emeritus status.

 

The Board will issue a certificate to those receiving "Architect Emeritus" status signed by the Board Chair.
