An Act PROVIDING FOR BEHAVIORAL SCIENCE REPRESENTATON ON THE PAROLE BOARD

 

                Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

 

SECTION 1.   The second paragraph of section 4 of chapter 27 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2006 Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking out the fourth sentence and inserting in place thereof the following 2 sentences:—  The list of names for each vacancy shall include 1 or more of the following persons, insofar as it is possible to select persons willing and able to fill the vacancy promptly:  an attorney admitted to the bar of the commonwealth; a physician with a board certification in psychiatry and a license in good standing with the board of registration in medicine; a psychologist with a license in good standing with the board of registration of psychologists; a person with a doctorate or master’s degree in social work and a license in good standing with the board of registration of social workers; a person with a doctorate in sociology; and a member of the parole staff.  No fewer than 3 members of the board shall be from the fields of psychiatry, psychology, social work or sociology.
