          The committee on Ways and Means, to whom was referred the Bill revising the composition and duties of the Quinebaug and Shetucket Rivers Valley Heritage District and Commission (Senate, No. 2310, amended), reports recommending that the same ought to pass with an amendment striking out all after the enacting clause and inserting in place thereof the text contained in House document numbered 4386.

    Text of an amendment recommended by the committee on Ways and Means to the Senate Bill revising the composition and duties of the Quinebaug and Shetucket Rivers Valley Heritage District and Commission (Senate, No. 2310, amended).  November 20, 2007.

In the Year Two Thousand and Seven.

By striking out all after the enacting clause and inserting in place thereof the following:

“SECTION 1.  Section 1 of chapter 127 of the acts of 1997 is hereby amended by inserting after the words ‘towns of’, in line 2, ‘Brimfield,’ and by inserting after the word ‘Dudley,’ the words ‘East Brookfield, Holland.’

 

SECTION 2. Section 3 of said chapter 127 of the acts of 1997 is hereby amended in the first paragraph by striking out the word ‘nine’ and inserting in place thereof the following:- 12

 

SECTION 3. Said section 3 of said chapter 127 of the acts of 1997 is hereby further amended in the first paragraph by striking out the word ‘four’ and inserting in place thereof the following:- 6

 

SECTION 4. Said section 3 of said chapter 127 of the acts of 1997 is hereby further amended in the first paragraph by striking out the word ‘two’ and inserting in place thereof the following:- 3

 

SECTION 5. Said section 3 of said chapter 127 of the acts of 1997 is hereby further amended in the fourth paragraph by inserting after the words ‘simple majority of members’ the following words:- who are residents of the district

 

SECTION 6. Section 4 of said chapter 127 of the acts of 1997 is hereby amended in the fifth paragraph by striking the words ‘and shall present a unified historic preservation and interpretive plan for the district. The report shall include an analysis of the methods and means of inventorying, preserving, and interpreting the historical, cultural and natural resources of the district along with recommendations concerning utilization of these resources and coordination of activities within the district.’ and inserting in place thereof the following words:- and shall maintain and update a unified historic preservation and interpretive plan for the district in coordination with the Massachusetts Historical Commission.”.
