In the Year Two Thousand and Eight.

 An Act relative to the city of Everett

 

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:


 

 

 

 

SECTION 1.   The city of Everett shall nominate and elect a Charter Commission for the purposes of revising and amending its charter, in accordance with the provisions of chapter 43B of the General Laws.

 

SECTION 2.  The state secretary shall cause the following question to be placed on the official ballot to be used in the city of Everett at the next biennial municipal election in the year 2009:  “Shall the city of Everett nominate and elect a Charter Commission in accordance with the provisions of chapter 43B of the General Laws of Massachusetts?”

If a majority of votes are cast in the affirmative, then this act shall take effect, but not otherwise.

 

SECTION 3.  This Charter Commission is to be nominated and elected at the next biennial election to be held in 2009.
