 An Act to authorize the removal of the Deputy Chief of Police of the Town of Acton from the civil service laws

 

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:


 

AN ACT to authorize the removal of the Deputy Chief of Police of the Town of Acton from the civil service laws.

 

Notwithstanding any general or special law, order, rule or regulation to the contrary, including without limitation the provisions of Section 52 of Chapter 31 of the General Laws and Chapter 212 of the Acts of 1954, the position of the deputy chief of police of the Town of Acton, to be created pursuant to Article 20 of the 2008 Acton Annual Town Meeting, shall, upon the effective date of this act and retroactive to the date of adoption of said Article 20, not be subject to the civil service laws, rules and regulations relating to police officers in towns.
