An Act Relative to Signatures for Nomination Petitions for City Councillor at Large

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1.           Nomination Petitions for City Councillor-at-Large -- Signatures.

Section 1 of chapter 90 of the acts of 1993 amended section 5 of chapter 342 of the acts of 1983 which struck section 56 from chapter 452 of the acts of 1948 as inserted by section 2 of chapter 376 of the acts of 1951 and replaced it with the current language of section 56, and said section 1 of chapter 90 of the acts of 1993 is hereby amended by striking the words "five hundred" and replacing them with the words "fifteen hundred".

SECTION 2.           Nomination Petitions for District City Councillor -- Signatures.

Section 3 of chapter 605 of the acts of 1982 amended the Acts of 1948, chapter 452, section 56 as inserted by the Acts of 1951, chapter 376, section 2(56) is hereby amended by striking the words "but in no event shall these requirements exceed two per cent of the vote cast in the preceding mayoral election in the respective district."

SECTION 3.           Implementation.

These provisions shall be effective immediately upon passage.
