 An Act for surviving spouses of veterans

 

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:


 

SECTION 1.  Section 2 of chapter 90 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2006 Official Edition, is hereby amended by adding the following paragraphs:-

 

Nothing in this section, shall be construed to prevent the surviving spouse of a veteran, whose veteran spouse was not in possession of a veterans license plate at the time of death, from applying for and receiving a veterans license plate, provided the surviving spouse has not remarried.

 

Nothing in this section, shall be construed to prevent the surviving spouse of a veteran, whose veteran spouse’s license plate was returned to the registry at the time of death, from applying for and receiving a veterans license plate, provided the surviving spouse has not remarried.

 

Surviving spouses of veterans' are eligible for one (1) set of plates for each vehicle registered in his or her name.  All fees associated with obtaining a veterans license plate shall apply to any spouses who obtains such a plate.

 

Any surviving spouse of a veteran who possesses a veterans license plate, shall display a decal indicating that they are a spouse of the veteran.
