AN ACT TO CREATE A STATE 911 DEPARTMENT, SINGLE 911 SURCHARGE AND AN ENHANCED 911 FUND.

Whereas, The deferred operation of this act would tend to defeat its purpose, which is to extend forthwith wireless enhanced services, therefore it is hereby declared to be an emergency law, necessary for the immediate preservation of the public convenience.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1. The first paragraph of section 18H1/2 of chapter 6A of the General Laws is hereby amended by striking out the words “July 31, 2008”, inserted by section 1 of chapter 164 of the acts of 2008, and inserting in place thereof the following words:- July 31, 2009

SECTION 2. Section 9 of chapter 61 of the acts of 2002, as most recently amended by section 2 of said chapter 164, is hereby further amended by striking out the first sentence and inserting in place thereof the following sentence:- Section 7 of this act shall take effect on July 31, 2009.
