An Act relative to the failure to report lost or stolen firearms. Be
it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court
assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows: SECTION 1. Section 129C of chapter 140 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2006 Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking out the words:- “and shall be punished by a fine of not less than $200 nor more than $1,000 for a first offense and by a fine or not less than $1,000 nor more than $5,000 for a second offense” in lines 20 to 23 and by inserting in place thereof the following:- “and shall be punished by a fine of $1,000 and 1 year’s probation for a first offense and by a fine of $5,000 and 2 years’ probation for a second or subsequent offense.” SECTION 2. Section 10 of chapter 269 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by striking out the words:- “for not less than two and one-half years nor more than five years or for not less than eighteen months nor more than two and one-half years in a jail or house of correction” in lines 29 to 31 and inserting in place thereof the following:- “for not less than 5 years or for not less than 2 years in a jail or house of correction.” |
