Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 57 of chapter 71 of the General Laws as most recently appearing in the 2002 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting at the end thereof the following:-
Any pupil, whose body mass index-to-age is at or above the 95th percentile as determined by the national center for disease control or other nationally recognized indicators may also be examined for diabetes using noninvasive screening techniques as recommended by the medical profession.
Any person who conducts a diabetes screening examination of a pupil who finds said pupil exhibiting the risk factors in accordance with the provisions of this section shall forward a written report of the result to the parent or guardian of said pupil. Said report shall include, but not limited to a referral to a qualified medical professional or diabetes center for the pupil to receive further screening and diagnosis.
