AN ACT relative to foster care and adoption in the Commonwealth

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any general or special law, rule or regulation to the contrary, section 595 of chapter 151 of the acts of 1996 is hereby amended in line 12 after the word “arrangement” by striking out the following:- is necessary in order to place siblings in the same residence

SECTION 2.  Said section 595 is hereby further amended by adding at the end thereof the following:- ; provided further, that more than a total of 6 children may live in the same residence where such an arrangement is necessary in order to place siblings, with the express consent of the commissioner of the department of social services, or his designee.

SECTION 3.   Said section 595 is hereby further amended in line 11 by striking out the word “secretary” and inserting in place thereof the following:- commissioner

SECTION 4. Said section 595 is hereby further amended in line 4 by striking out the words “human and community services” and inserting in place thereof the following:- the executive office of health and human services
