AN ACT limiting promotional activities of the lottery

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1. Section 35 of Chapter 10 of the General Laws, as appearing in 2002 Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking subsection (b) and replacing it with the following:-

(b) For the expenses of the commission in administering and operating the lottery, as certified by the secretary of administration and finance, provided that the state treasurer shall transfer the certified amount to the General Fund for said purposes; provided further, that not more than $500,000 shall be expended for promotional activities associated with the state lottery program; and provided further, that such promotional expenses shall be limited to point-of-sale promotions and agent newsletters; and
