AN ACT to maintain transition age requirements for students with disabilities

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1. Section 2 of Chapter 71B of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2004 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after line 12 of paragraph 3 the following:

Beginning at age fourteen (or younger if determined appropriate by the IEP Team),

            school age children with disabilities are entitled to transition services and measurable postsecondary goals, as provided under the federal Individual Disabilities with Education Act, 20 USC sec. 1400, et sec.
