require the installation of elevators in multi-level

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. The tenth paragraph of section 71 of chapter 111 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2000 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after the word “ordinances”, in line 96, the following words:- and (3) in the case of convalescent or nursing homes only, a certificate of inspection for at least one elevator or elevator chair issued by an inspector of the division of inspection of the department of public safety if such home is a multi-level structure and if residents have access to more than one level.
Section 2. The twentieth paragraph of said section 71 of said chapter 111, as so appearing, is hereby amended by inserting after word “code”, in line 197, the following words:- contains inspected elevators or elevator chairs if it is a multi-level structure that provides residents with access to more than one level.
Section 3. Said twentieth paragraph of said section 71 of said chapter 111, as so appearing, is hereby further amended by inserting after the word “ownership”, in line 201, the following words:- , but the requirement for elevators or elevator chairs shall continue in the event of such ownership change.
