In the Year Two Thousand and Seven.

AN ACT relative to public health regionalization in the commonwealth

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1. Chapter 111 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2004 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting, after section 1, the following section 1C:-

The department shall study regionalization of public health in the commonwealth, including, but not limited to, proposals for establishing an office of local health services in the department and proposals for regionalizing local public health services; provided further, that the study shall identify public health resource needs and funding sources for such management and operations and an estimate of the projected costs for implementation of those resource needs; provided further, that the study shall be conducted in consultation with the Massachusetts Coalition for Local Public Health and the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection; and provided further, the department shall submit a copy of the report to the speaker of the house and senate president, the joint committee on public health, and the house and senate committees on ways and means six months after the inception of this act.
