AN ACT requiring medicaid reimbursement payments to health care providers for electronic consultations

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1. The executive office of health and human services shall investigate and study the feasibility of providing Medicaid reimbursements to health care providers for patient consultations conducted through email for non-urgent Medicaid-eligible services.  The study shall consider cost savings, efficiency, quality of care and provider accountability related to Medicaid reimbursement for email consultations.  Results of the study shall be filed with the joint committee on health care financing by April 1, 2009.
