Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 82A of chapter 276 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2000 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after the first paragraph the following paragraph:-
Whoever violates this section on three on more occasions by failing to appear in court to answer for any misdemeanor offense shall be punished by a fine of not more than $50,000 and imprisonment in a state prison for not more than 5 years, or a house of correction for not more than 2 ½ years, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
