the disability retirement allowance of former corrections
officers Wayne F. Sylvia and Rene R. Lebert. Public

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Notwithstanding chapter 32 of the General Laws or any other general law to the contrary, the state board of retirement shall increase the retirement allowance payable to retired corrections officers, Wayne F. Sylvia, who was injured in the line of duty in 1991, and Rene R. Lebert, who was injured in the line of duty in 1988. The annual pensions payable to Wayne F. Sylvia and Rene R. Lebert shall be fixed at an amount equal to the regular rate of compensation which they would have been paid had they continued in service as a corrections officer at the respective grades held by them at the time of their retirements. Wayne F. Sylvia and Rene R. Lebert shall be entitled to receive all annual cost of living adjustments in their annual pensions granted under any general or special law.
SECTION 2. Upon the death of Wayne F. Sylvia, leaving his wife surviving him, the state board of retirement shall pay to her for as long as she remains unmarried as annuity in the amount of 32 per cent of the pension payable to him at the time of his death.
SECTION 3. Upon the death of Rene R. Lebert, leaving his wife surviving him, the state board of retirement shall pay to her for as long as she remains unmarried as annuity in the amount of 32 per cent of the pension payable to him at the time of his death.
SECTION 4. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
