Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of any general or special law to the contrary, Edward P. Rielly, a police officer in the Town of Belmont, shall be given full credit for his military service, for the purposes of determining his retirement benefits as provided in this act.
SECTION 2. Notwithstanding the provisions of any general or special law to the contrary, said Edward P. Rielly shall within sixty days of the effective date of this act pay, in one lump sum, or in such installments as may be allowed, to the Belmont Retirement Board the amount of total accumulated contributions and earnings thereon which should credited to said Edward P. Rielly under the retirement system of the Commonwealth for his period of service in the United States Army. Said administration shall calculate the amount equal to the contribution said Edward P. Rielly would have paid to the retirement plan of said administration for the periods of prior military service as if he had been in service as a police officer during said periods together with regular interest to the date of said payment.
