Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any rule, law or regulation to the contrary, the department of revenue is hereby authorized and directed to prepare a feasibility study, together with a draft of legislation amending chapters 64H and 64I of the general laws, and such other changes in general law as may be necessary to bring Massachusetts into full compliance with the streamlined sales and use tax agreement, so-called, in furtherance of the provisions of section 82 of chapter 4 of the acts of 2003. The department shall file its report, together with any recommendations for legislation, with the joint committee on revenue and the House and Senate committees on Ways and Means not later than December 1, 2009.
