In the Year Two Thousand and Seven.

RESOLVE providing for an investigation and study by a special commission relative to the U.S.S. Massachusetts.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1.  That a special commission, to consist of four members of the senate, three of whom shall be appointed by the senate president, one of whom shall be appointed by the senate minority leader, four members of the house of representatives, one of whom shall be appointed by the speaker of the house of representatives, house minority leader, and three persons to be appointed by the governor, one of whom shall be the chief executive officer of the U.S.S. Massachusetts Memorial Committee, Inc., or his designee, and one of whom shall be a member of the board of directors of the U.S.S. Massachusetts former crew associates, or his designee, is hereby established for the purpose of making an investigation and study relative to the appropriate use of the U.S.S. Massachusetts battleship. Said commission shall report to the general court the results of its investigation and study, if any, together with drafts of legislation necessary to carry such recommendations into effect by filing the same with the clerk of the house of representatives on or before December 31, 2007.
