AN ACT further regulating dvd's in cars

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1. Section 13 of chapter 90 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2002 Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking out, in line 25, the words “No person shall drive any motor vehicle equipped with any television viewer, screen or other means of visually receiving a television broadcast which is located in the motor vehicle at any point forward of the back of the driver's seat, or which is visible to the driver while operating such motor vehicle.”

            SECTION 2.  Section 13 of said chapter 90, as so appearing is hereby amended by inserting, at the end, the following:-

            “No person shall utilize a viewer, screen or other means of visually receiving a television broadcast or video feed while operating a motor vehicle on any public way in the commonwealth, provided, however, that any viewer or screen which is not visible to the operator or which is used exclusively for an automobile navigation and guidance system shall be excluded by this section.”

            SECTION 3.  Section 20 of said chapter 90, as so appearing, is hereby amended by inserting after the word “dollars” in line 11, the following words:-

            “provided, however, that any person convicted of operating a motor vehicle while utilizing a viewer or screen in violation of the provisions of section 13 shall be punished by a fine of not less than one hundred nor more than two hundred dollars;”
