AN ACT relative to emergency medical departments

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1. Section 16 of Chapter 90 of the General Laws as appearing in the 2004 official edition is hereby amended by striking “No siren shall be mounted upon any motor vehicle except fire apparatus, ambulances, vehicles used in official line of duty by any members of the police or fire fighting forces” and inserting in place thereof the following item:-

“No siren shall be mounted upon any motor vehicle except fire apparatus, ambulances, vehicles used in official line of duty by any members of the police, fire fighting forces or emergency medical departments.”

SECTION 2. Section 7E of Chapter 90 of the General Laws as appearing in the 2004 official edition is hereby amended by inserting after “school buses” the following item:- emergency medical vehicles”.

SECTION 3. Section 7E of Chapter 90 of the General Laws as appearing in the 2004 official edition is hereby amended by striking “issuance of the permit, the head of the fire department” and inserting in place thereof the following item:-

“issuance of the permit, the head of the fire department or head of the emergency medical department.”

SECTION 4. Section 7E of Chapter 90 of the General Laws as appearing in the 2004 official edition is hereby amended by striking “Upon termination of the duties which warranted the issuance of the permit, the head of the fire department” and inserting in place thereof the following item:- “Upon termination of the duties which warranted the issuance of the permit, the head of the fire department or the head of the emergency medical department”.

SECTION 5. Section 7E of Chapter 90 of the General Laws as appearing in the 2004 official edition is hereby amended by striking “Upon the written request of the chief of police or chief of fire” and inserting in place thereof the following item:- “Upon the written request of the chief of police or chief, chief of fire, or head of the emergency medical department”.
