AN ACT expediting receipt of certain federal funds

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

Whereas, The deferred operation of this act would tend to defeat its purpose, which is forthwith to expedite receipt of certain federal funds, therefore it is hereby declared to be an emergency law, necessary for the immediate preservation of the public convenience.

SECTION 1.  The first paragraph of subsection (a) of section 6B of chapter 29 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2004 Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking out the first sentence and inserting in place thereof the following sentence:-  When a state agency applies for federal grants or for participation in a federally assisted program under any federal law, or approves an application for such a federal grant or approves participation submitted by an agency other than a state agency, it shall notify the commissioner, the house and senate committees on ways and means, and the joint committee on veterans and federal affairs, on forms and in a manner prescribed by the commissioner.

SECTION 2.  The second paragraph of said subsection (a) of said section 6B of said chapter 29, as so appearing, is hereby amended by striking out the first sentence.

SECTION 3.  Section 13 of chapter 11 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by striking out, in lines 7 and 8, the words “federal financial assistance” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- veterans and federal affairs.
