AN ACT EXEMPTING THE POSITION OF SUPERINTENDENT OF POLICE IN THE CITY OF LOWELL FROM THE PROVISIONS OF CIVIL SERVICE LAW

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

 

SECTION 1. Chapter 112 of the Acts of 1924 is hereby cancelled and revoked.

Section 2. The position of Superintendent of Police in the City of Lowell  shall be exempt from the provisions of chapter thirty-one of the General Laws.

Section 3. The provisions of section two shall not impair the civil service status of any person holding the position of Superintendent of Police (other than acting or temporary) in the city of Lowell on the effective date of this act.

Section 4. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
