AN ACT PERTAINING TO OFF-DUTY WORK DETAILS OR SPECIAL DETAILS PERFORMNED BY PUBLIC EMPLOYEES IN THE CITY OF SOMERVILLE

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1. Notwithstanding G.L. c. 44, § 53C any other special or general law to the contrary, the City of Somerville is hereby authorized to impose a fee not to exceed fifteen per cent for the cost to the said City of Somerville for services performed by its employees on an off-duty work detail which is related to such employee’s regular employment or for special detail work performed by persons where such detail is not related to regular employment.

SECTION 2.   A penalty imposed under this section may be increased by up to 15 per cent if paid later than 21 days after the due date for the payment to the said City of Somerville.

SECTION 3.   This Act shall take effect upon its passage.
