AN ACT AUTHORIZING CONCURRENT JURISDICTION BETWEEN THE COMMONWEALTH OF MASSACHUSETTS AND THE CITY OF SOMERVILLE RELATIVE TO CERTAIN ROADWAYS IN THE SAID CITY

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1.  Notwithstanding any contrary provision of the General Laws, the City of Somerville is hereby authorized to obtain concurrent jurisdiction with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts over the state-owned public ways known in said City of Somerville as Alewife Brook Parkway, Alfred A. Lombardi Way, Bailey Road Extension, Fellsway Street, Fellsway West, Msgr. McGrath Highway, Medford Street (portions), Mystic Avenue, Mystic Valley Parkway, Puritan Road, and Shore Drive.  Such concurrent jurisdiction will authorize the City of Somerville to provide such services on such ways, including but not limited to, traffic regulation, posting signs, ticketing parking offenses and motor vehicle violations, towing unlawfully parked vehicles, snow removal and street maintenance.

SECTION 2. Such concurrent jurisdiction will not provide the City of Somerville with property interest rights in said state-owned public way, nor shall the City obtain liability for the maintenance of the said state-owned public way

SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its passage.
