the town of Milton to borrow money to fund certain |
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of
Representatives in General Court assembled,
SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any general law or special law to the contrary, the town of Milton may borrow up $850,000 for payment of legally obligated medical expenses resulting from injuries sustained in the line of duty incurred from July, 2007 through June, 2008 for its public safety personnel and may issue bonds and notes for this amount, payable up to a maximum of 20 years from their date. The town may also issue temporary notes in anticipation of this borrowing under section 17 of chapter 44 of the General Laws. The town treasurer may issue bonds and notes under this act with the approval of the select board, and may expend the proceeds without further authorization or appropriation by the town. Indebtedness incurred under this act shall not be included in determining the limit of indebtedness of the town under section 10 of said chapter 44 but, except as provided in this act, shall otherwise be subject to said chapter 44.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
