AN ACT RELATIVE TO THE PAYMENT OF RESTITUTION BY JUVENILE OFFENDERS

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1.

Section 62 of chapter 119 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2002 Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking out the first sentence and inserting in place thereof the following sentence:- If, in adjudging a person as a delinquent child, the court finds, as an element of such delinquency that such child has committed an act involving liability in a civil action, and such child is placed on probation, the court shall require, as a condition thereof, that such child make restitution or reparation to the injured person to such an extent and in such sum as the court determines and that such child perform community service in the community in which the offense was committed for a period of time to be determined by the court.
