RESOLVE THAT THE COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC SERVICE TO MAKE AN INVESTIGATION AND STUDY OF ACTIVE DUTY DEATH BENEFITS OF MEMBERS OF THE MASSACHUSETTS NATIONAL GUARD

The Committee on Public Service make an investigation and study of the adequacy of death benefits provided to survivors of members of the Massachusetts National Guard who are killed in action or die while on active duty with the Armed Forces of the United States or active duty within the state by order of the Governor.  In making such investigation, the committee shall determine the level of benefits provided by the federal government as well as any state benefits or private insurance in comparison to benefits provided to the families of survivors of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 and the source or sources of those benefits.  Said committee shall file a report with the Clerk of the House of Representatives, together with any recommendations for legislation, not later than November 1, 2005.
