AN ACT RELATIVE TO ELIGIBILITY FOR A LICENSE TO OPERATE A MOTOR VEHICLE

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1

Section 8 of chapter 90 of the general laws as most recently appearing in the 2002 Official Edition is hereby amended by inserting after subsection (c) the following:

  (c) (1) Provides evidence that he is enrolled, and a student in good standing, in an education program leading to a high school diploma or that he has graduated from high school.

SECTION 2.  Section 8 of chapter 90 of the general laws as most recently appearing in the 2002 Official Edition is hereby amended by inserting after the fifth paragraph the following:

No person holding a junior operator’s license shall operate a motor vehicle under the age of 18 unless said person is a student in good standing in an education program leading to a high school diploma, unless said person shall already have attained a high school diploma or its equivalent.

SECTION 3.  This act shall take effect upon its passage.
