The committee on Consumer Protection & Professional Licensure to whom was referred the petition (accompanied by bill, Senate, No. 232) relative to extending the simulcasting expiration date for the horse and greyhound racing industry in the Commonwealth, reported, recommeding that the same ought to pass, with an amendment substituting a new draft with the same title (Senate, No. 2215).

AN ACT EXTENDING THE SIMULCAST EXPIRATION DATE FOR THE HORSE AND GREYHOUND RACING INDUSTRY IN THE COMMONWEALTH

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1.

The first paragraph of section 12A of chapter 494 of the acts of 1978, as amended by section 29 of chapter 139 of the acts of 2001, is hereby amended by striking out the words:- "2001 to 2005”, inclusive, and inserting in place thereof the following words:- “2005 to 2007”, inclusive.

SECTION 2.   The last paragraph of said section 12A of said chapter 494, as amended by section 30 of chapter 139 of the acts of 2001, is hereby amended by striking out the words:- "December 31, 2005", and inserting in place thereof the following:- “December 31, 2007.”

SECTION 3.   Section 13 of said chapter 494, as amended by section 31 of chapter 139 of the acts of 2001, is hereby amended by striking out the words:- "2001 to 2005”, inclusive, and inserting in place thereof the following words:- “2005 to 2007”, inclusive.

SECTION 4.   Section 15 of said chapter 494, as amended by section 32 of chapter 139 of the acts of 2001, is hereby amended by striking out the words:- "2001 to 2005”, inclusive, and inserting in place thereof the following words:- “2005 to 2007”, inclusive.

SECTION 5.   Section 9 of chapter 277 of the acts of 1986, as amended by section 33 of chapter 139 of the acts of 2001, is hereby amended by striking out the words:- "2001 to 2005”, inclusive, and inserting in place thereof the following words:- “2005 to 2007”, inclusive.

SECTION 6.   The first sentence of the first paragraph of section 3 of chapter 114 of the acts of 1991, as amended by section 34 of chapter 139 of the acts of 2001, is hereby amended by striking out the words:- "2001 to 2007”, inclusive, and inserting in place thereof the following words:- “2005 to 2007”, inclusive.

SECTION 7.   The last paragraph of said section 3 of said chapter 4, as amended by section 35 of chapter 139 of the acts of 2001, is hereby amended by striking out the words "December 31, 2005", and inserting in place thereof the following words:- “December 31, 2007”.

SECTION 8.   The first paragraph of section 4 of said chapter 114, as amended by section 36 of chapter 139 of the acts of 2001, is hereby amended by striking out the words:- "2001 to 2005”, inclusive, and inserting in place thereof the following words:- “2005 to 2007”, inclusive.

SECTION 9.   The last paragraph of said section 4 of said chapter 114, as amended by section 36 of chapter 139 of the acts of 2001, is hereby amended by striking out the words:- "December 31, 2005", and inserting in place thereof the following words:- “December 31, 2007”.

SECTION 10. The first paragraph of section 5 of said chapter 114, as amended by section 38 of chapter 139 of  the acts of 2001, is hereby amended by striking out the words:- "2001 to 2005, inclusive, and inserting in place thereof the following words:- “2005 to 2007”, inclusive.

SECTION 11. Section 13 of chapter 101 of the acts of 1992, as amended by section 39 of chapter 139 of the acts of 2001, is hereby amended by striking out the words "December 31, 2005", and inserting in place thereof the following words:- “December 31, 2007”.

SECTION 12, Section 45 of said chapter 139 is hereby amended by striking out the words "December 31, 2005", and inserting in place thereof the following words:- “December 31, 2007”.

SECTION 13. This act shall expire on December 31, 2007.

SECTION 14. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
