Met at eight minutes past eleven o’clock A.M. (Mr. Baddour in the Chair).

The Chair (Mr. Baddour), members, guests and employees then recited the pledge of allegiance to the flag.

Distinguished Guests.

There being no objection, the Chair (Mr. Baddour) handed the gavel to Mr. Moore for the purpose of an introduction. Mr. Moore then introduced the Nipmuc High School Warriors Women’s Soccer Team who won back-to-back state championships. The team was accompanied by their coaches and Representatives Peterson of Grafton and Fernandes of Milford.

Communication.

The Clerk read the following Communication:
A communication was received from the Honorable Robert E. Travaglini, President of the Senate, announcing that, effective today, the following Senators have been appointed to serve as members of the temporary committee on Ethics and Rules.

PAPER FROM THE HOUSE.

Communication from the Clerk of the House, Steven T. James, informing the Senate that the Republican Party Caucus had elected Representative Bradley H. Jones, Jr. of North Reading, as the Minority Leader, Representative Rogeness of Longmeadow, Assistant Minority Floor Leader; Representative Peterson of Grafton, Second Assistant Minority Floor Leader and Representative Lepper of Attleboro, Third Assistant Minority Floor Leader for the 2007-2008 legislative session.

The annual report of the Public Employee Retirement Administration Commission (under sections 21, 102 and 103 of chapter 32 of the General Laws) relative to the percentum change in the average cost-of-living as shown by the United States consumer price index for the year 2006 compared with such index for the year 2005 (House, No. 2010),— came from the House, with the endorsement that it had been referred to the committee on Public Service; and the Senate concurred in the reference.

Resolutions.

The following resolutions (having been filed with the Clerk) were severally considered forthwith and adopted, as follows:—

Resolutions (filed by Mr. Augustus and Ms. Chandler) “congratulating Lieutenant Governor Timothy P. Murray on his selection as Grand Marshal of the Worcester St. Patrick’s Day Parade”; and
Resolutions (filed by Messrs. Pacheco and Creedon) “congratulations to Emilio John Cubellis, founder of the Mezza Luna Restaurant.”
