Met at one minute past eleven o’clock A.M. (Mr. Rosenberg in the Chair).

Students from the Winthrop School in Hamilton then led the Chair (Mr. Rosenberg), members, guests and employees in the recitation of the pledge of allegiance to the flag.

Distinguished Guests.

There being no objection, the Chair (Mr. Rosenberg) recognized, seated in the Senate Gallery, students and teachers from the Winthrop School in Hamilton, Massachusetts. They were on a field trip to the State House and led the Chamber in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. The students were accompanied by Representative Bradford Hill.

Communication.

A communication from the Honorable James J. Dwyer requesting that he not be listed as a dissenter on Senate proposals, Nos. 24, 25, 26 and 27 and House Proposal, No. 1736 from the committee reports of the committee on the Judiciary,— was placed on file.

Paper from the House.

A Bill making appropriations for the fiscal year 2010 for the maintenance of the departments, boards, commissions, institutions and certain activities of the Commonwealth, for interest, sinking fund and serial bond requirements and for certain permanent improvements (House, No. 4101,— on House, No. 1, in part),— was read and, under Senate Rule 27, referred to the committee on Ways and Means.

The following resolutions (having been filed with the Clerk) were severally considered forthwith and adopted, as follows:—

Ordered, That when the Senate adjourns today, it adjourn to meet again on Monday next at eleven o’clock A.M., and that the Clerk be directed to dispense with the printing of a calendar.
