Met at three minutes past eleven o’clock A.M. (Mr. Hart in the Chair)

The Chair (Mr. Hart), members, guests and employees then recited the pledge of allegiance to the flag.

Report.

A report of the Bristol County Registry of Deeds (under the provisions of Section 4 of Chapter 4 of the Acts of 2003 and section 2KKK of Chapter 29 of the General Laws) submitting its plan for expenditure from the County Registers Technological Fund (copies will be forwarded as required to the Senate Committees on Ways and Means and Post Audit and Oversight) (received January 13, 2011).

Resolutions.

The following resolutions (having been filed with the Clerk) were considered forthwith and adopted, as follows:-

Resolutions (filed by Mr. Keenan) “congratulating Ann E. McLaughlin on her retirement from the position of Director of Libraries in the city of Quincy”;
Resolutions (filed by Mr. Ross) “congratulating Andrew Fash Cullen on his elevation to the rank of Eagle Scout”; and
Resolutions (filed by Mr. Ross) “congratulating Michael McKnight Pichetti on his elevation to the rank of Eagle Scout.”

Orders Adopted.

Mr. Berry presented the following order:--

Ordered, That full consideration shall be allowed by the Senate on Thursday, January 20, 2011, on the Senate Order recommending proposed Senate Rules to be adopted as permanent rules of the Senate for 2011-2012 (Senate, No. 7) and the Joint Order recommending proposed Joint Rules to be adopted as permanent rules of the Senate and House of Representatives for 2011-2012 (Senate, No. 6).
All amendments shall be filed electronically in the office of the Clerk of the Senate by 5:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 18, 2011. The Clerk shall further specify the procedure and format for filing all amendments, consistent with this order.
There being no objection, the rules were suspended, on motion of Mr. Wolf, and the order was considered forthwith and adopted.

Mr. Berry presented the following order:--

Ordered, That a convention of the two Houses be held at a quarter past two o’clock P.M., on Tuesday, January 18, for the purpose of administering the oaths of office to Councillor-elect Thomas T. Merrigan of Greenfield.
There being no objection, the rules were suspended, on motion of Mr. Keenan, and the order was considered forthwith and adopted.

On motion of Mr. Hedlund,--

Ordered, That when the Senate adjourns today, it adjourn to meet again on Tuesday next at eleven o’clock A.M.
