Met at five minutes past eleven o’clock A.M. (Mr. Barrios in the Chair).
The Chair (Mr. Barrios), members, guests and employees then recited the pledge of allegiance to the flag.
There being no objection, the Chair (Mr. Barrios) handed the gavel to the Senator from Plymouth and Norfolk, Mr. Hedlund, who introduced, seated at the rear of the Chamber, students from the Junior Achievement Program of Weymouth High School. The students, Jessica Cory, Brendan Carey, Ryan Foley, Paul Belmonte and Kevin Peters, were shadowing Senator Hedlund while he performed his duties during one day at the State House. They were the guests of Senator Hedlund.
Mr. Barrios in the Chair, the following communications were severally read and placed on file, to wit:
Communications were received from the Senate President and the Minority Leader of the Senate, announcing the appointments of Senators Andrea F. Nuciforo, Jr., Dianne Wilkerson, Robert A. O’Leary and Bruce E. Tarr to the special commission established (pursuant to Section 4 of Chapter 436 of the Acts of 2004) relative to an examination of homeowners insurance market in large share territories; and
A communication from the Department of Revenue’s Division of Local Services submitting a copy of its biennial equalized valuation study (received Thursday, February 3, 2005).
The following reports were severally read and placed on file:
A report of the Norfolk County Register of Deeds (under the provisions of Section 4 of Chapter 4 of the Acts of 2003 and Section 2KKK of Chapter 29 of the General Laws) submitting a plan of expenditure from the County Registers Technological Fund (copies having been forwarded as required to the committee on Ways and Means and the committee on Post Audit and Oversight) (received Friday, February 4, 2005); and
A report of the Department of Conservation and Recreation (under the provision of Section 3C of Chapter 21 of the General Laws as amended by Section 84 of Chapter 26 of the Acts of 2003) submittiing a copy of its annual report for fiscal year 2004 (received Friday, February 4, 2005).
The following resolutions (having been filed with the Clerk) were considered forthwith and adopted, as follows:—

On motion of Mr. Hedlund,—
Ordered, That when the Senate adjourns today, it adjourn to meet again tomorrow at two o’clock P.M., in formal session, without a calendar.
On motion of the same Senator, at eight minutes past eleven o’clock A.M., the Senate adjourned to meet on the following day at two o’clock P.M., in formal session.
