Section 3. Any such corporation organized prior to January first, nineteen hundred and fifty-five, shall be subject to this chapter and chapters one hundred and sixty-seven C to one hundred and sixty-seven G, inclusive, so far as is consistent with the provisions of its charter, and may, by vote of its corporators at its annual meeting or at a meeting called for the purpose, accept any provision of this chapter which is inconsistent with its charter. Any such corporation organized after January first, nineteen hundred and fifty-five, shall be subject to this chapter and chapters one hundred and sixty-seven C to one hundred and sixty-seven G, inclusive.
