Two offices within the State House offer internships to college and graduate students.
The Governor’s Office offers a variety of internship opportunities to qualified students. Details about current opportunities are outlined on their web site.
The Legislative Education Office is available to help any interested student obtain an internship with a member of the Senate or House of Representatives. A personal interview is required as part of the application process. Most internships are volunteer and many students are able to receive academic credit by making arrangements with their academic advisors or professors.
The time commitment for this program is a minimum of six weeks with a mandatory minimum work schedule of twelve hours per week. However, if earning academic credit each school may have its own policy requirements, which would take precedence.
Internships are available each semester and there is no deadline for application. A resume, writing sample and transcript should accompany the application.
