For most employers, layoffs are a last resort. We can help you try to avoid layoffs through the WorkSharing program. WorkSharing allows workers in an entire company, a company department, or even a small unit within the company to share reduced work hours while also collecting unemployment insurance benefits to supplement their reduced wages.
If layoffs can’t be avoided, the Rapid Response program can help ease the transition for employees through early intervention re-employment services, including on-site unemployment insurance information sessions and individual job counseling. If layoffs are the result of foreign trade, workers may be eligible for additional benefits through the Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) program.
