The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act provides the Commonwealth with an allocation of $24,838,038 in recovery funds through in the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Title I Youth funding stream. ARRA funds provide in this area support statewide and local employment and training activities and summer jobs for low income youth individuals with barriers to employment, as described in the Workforce Investment Act of 1998.

To support the creation of an estimated 10,000 summer jobs for youth across the commonwealth, the Patrick Administration will leverage ARRA funds provided to the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security as well as state YouthWorks funding - this will enable the Commonwealth to reach 60 target communities this summer with needed support for summer jobs for our most at risk young people.
