Description

Tests and repairs magnetos used in gasoline and diesel engines, using meters, gauges, and handtools: Connects magneto to motor and electrical test panel and starts motor to determine source of malfunction. Disassembles magneto and inspects coils, condenser, and armature for shorts. Repairs or replaces worn or defective parts, using handtools. Verifies polarity of armature. Cleans parts with alcohol or solvent and reassembles unit. Adjusts breaker points, using feeler gauge. Installs magneto in engine.

MAGNETO: A device that produces alternating current for distribution to the spark plugs, used in the ignition systems of some internal-combustion engines.

B.Three Phase Motor Repair: safety; disassembly and reassembly; inspection of bearings and windings; testing of windings; testing of reassembled motors; reading and understanding electrical diagrams; strip winding from stator; dip and baking of motor; possible motor installation.2000
C.Winding Single Phase and Three Phase Motors: safety; insulate stator hake up coils set winding head; selection of proper wire size; winding coils; installing coils in stator; connecting stator coils; test winding for grounds and shorts.2000
