I took my RRP training when RRP first became federal law back in April of 2010, and I've already certified my firm with EPA before July 9, 2010. Do I still have to get the Massachusetts DLS license?

If you took the RRP training and received your EPA Firm Certificate prior to July 9, 2010 (the date that Massachusetts DLS amended its lead regulation), then you qualify for our Lead-Safe Renovation Contractor Licensing Waiver. DLS will issue this one-time Licensing Waiver without having to pay an application fee because you have already certified with the EPA. DLS issues this Licensing Waiver to those persons or companies who meet either of the following criteria:

To those persons, companies or other entities who perform renovation work at their own property using their own regular employees or Responsible Persons (see Lead-Safe Property Owner page).

To those contractors who applied for and received an EPA Firm Certification prior to July 9, 2010.

To obtain the waiver:

Download the Lead-Safe Contractor Licensing Waiver, complete the application, then mail or hand-deliver the completed application with required attachments to DLS's Boston office for review. Allow 2-3 weeks for us to process your application. We will contact you if we need more information. Please note: incomplete applications that are submitted will cause the processing time to be delayed considerably. After approval, we will mail your license waiver to you.
